I hadn't realized when I posted my "early thoughts" on Part 3 that I was actually almost done with Part 3. Now I am at part... 7? I've lost track. More than half-way done.

Here's the thing about TFC. A lot of it is personal introspection stuff. Either Bree thinking about things, or Claire, or Roger, or Jamie... and not much actual "stuff" happening. So when you strip that out, I can easily see this book fitting into 12 episodes. And that also clarifies something else... At NYCC (I think it was), during a panel discussion, someone -- maybe Maril Davis? -- said that season 5 is mostly based on TCF, and with a bit from book 6. And given that in past seasons, they've had to leave a lot out from the books to make it fit into 13 episodes, I was wondering how they were going to do 1 and a bit books in 12 episodes. Now I realize that it's likely because, to be honest, there really isn't that much that happens in TFC.

Anyway, I should have made at least one post in between this one and the previous one, but I didn't. But in what I've read, there were essentially two main plot points that likely will have to be show. The obvious one of course is the battle (such as it is) with the Regulators, which of course is all overshadowed by what happens to Roger. The other -- it's a major plot point going forward, but I don't know how they're going to swing it given the TV storyline changes. That, of course, is Jocasta and Duncan's wedding, which also involves the slave's death-that-is-actually-murder, the resurfacing of Stephen Bonnet, and we learn of the existence of the Frenchmen's gold. I mean, all of that can be in the show -- except... who is Jocasta going to marry? We have no Duncan. And Murtagh is still an outlaw, so a big public wedding to see her marry a man wanted by the Crown? I guess they could change the plot somewhat and instead of getting together to celebrate her wedding, maybe it could be to celebrate Jocasta's birthday or something. I will be very curious to see what happens with this storyline. And by storyline, I am referring to the gold, not so much the wedding.

In my previous post, I said I sort of hoped they'd skip that whole thing about what happens at the Beardsley farm. Well, they're not. Yesterday, Starz made some casting announcements (rather late given that they're almost done shooting), and one of the new cast announcements was Bronwyn James as Fanny Beardsley. So THAT'S going to happen. The other announcement was Paul Gorman in the dual role of the Beardsley twins, Jo and Kezzie. Interesting that they cast one person to play two roles. I mean, I know they did that with Tobias Menzies, but Frank Randall and Black Jack never shared a scene. Jo and Kezzie will be sharing scenes. Guess they couldn't find a suitable set of acting twins?
