Claire manages to survive quite well in the past because of her knowledge about the past, and because her skills as a healer are in demand pretty much at any time in history.

If Jamie could also go through the stones, and if he had decided after surviving Culloden to go to the future to try to find Claire, do you think he would have managed as well? What sort of work could Jamie have found in the late 1940s? I really can't see him in any sort of office job.

[personal profile] caitri wrote up a very interesting and entertaining post dissecting the printing scenes from episode 306 (and a wee mention of 305) of Outlander. She knows what she is talking about -- her family are printers. She agreed to let me link to it so please do give it a read!

I was reading a review of ep. 306, and the author slags off the men's fashion stylings of 1766 Scotland, in particular, tricorns:

It’s tough to be back in Scotland and see zero kilts, but it’s even tougher to be back in Scotland and see all the men in mullets and tricorns. Let’s face it, this wasn’t an attractive era for male fashion to begin with, but when you add the hair and the hats to it… It’s just not sexy.

I totally disagree. I think Sam totally rocks a tricorn hat.

So what do you think? Tricorns sexy, yes or no?

(Full disclosure -- I work for a British-style parliament and our Table Clerks wear tricorns, so I may be a bit biased...)
